# What Rapid Review does

> An overview of Rapid Review, the AI code reviewer for GitHub pull requests; read this when you want to know what it does, what it posts on a pull request and where to see its results.

## What is Rapid Review?

Rapid Review is an AI code reviewer for GitHub pull requests. It runs as a GitHub App. Once the App is installed on a GitHub account and reviews are switched on for a repository, Rapid Review reviews that repository's pull requests and reports what it finds on the pull request itself.

## What does Rapid Review post on a pull request?

For each push it reviews, Rapid Review:

* runs a check named `rapid-review` that says how the review went;
* posts one review with inline comments on the lines its findings are about;
* keeps one summary comment on the pull request up to date.

The review is a plain comment. Rapid Review never approves a pull request or requests changes.

## What kind of problems does Rapid Review look for?

Rapid Review looks for defects that a pull request introduces: changed code that behaves wrongly, fails, leaks or breaks a caller for some input or state. It doesn't comment on style, naming, formatting, missing documentation, or problems in code the pull request didn't change.

## Which programming languages does Rapid Review review?

Reviews work for code in any programming language. Rapid Review isn't built for a fixed list of languages.

## What happens on later pushes to the same pull request?

On each later push, Rapid Review checks whether the earlier findings were fixed. It replies to the threads of the findings that were fixed and resolves them.

When someone with write access replies to a finding and explains why it isn't a problem, Rapid Review can record that reason as a learning and take it into account in later reviews of the repository.

## Where can I see all reviews and findings?

The Rapid Review app at [https://rapidreview.dev](https://rapidreview.dev) shows the reviews and findings of the repositories you can see on GitHub. You sign in with your GitHub account.
